Print Production

Central Signs handles print production for banners, vinyl, labels and display graphics for shops, vehicles, windows and exhibitions. We work from Hamilton in Bloemfontein for clients across Mangaung, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Welkom and Kroonstad.

Prints made for real site use

Our print production service is set up for signs that need to work on site, not just look good on a screen. We produce large-format prints for indoor and outdoor use, including PVC banners, self-adhesive vinyl, floor graphics, window graphics, wall graphics, labels and display panels. Sizes can run from small product labels right up to wide banner runs and full frontage graphics, depending on the material and finish needed.

For Bloemfontein weather conditions, we choose materials and inks that cope with strong sun, winter dryness and dust. On coastal jobs the challenge is different, but here in the Free State the big issues are UV exposure, wind and surface prep. If a panel is going onto a plaster wall, painted metal, glass or ACM, we match the print method to the surface so the job goes on cleanly and stays put.

  • Banner printing for shop front promotions and event use
  • Vinyl printing for windows, walls, doors and vehicles
  • Label production for product, asset and equipment marking
  • Display graphics for boards, pull-up units and exhibition stands

What is included in print production

Print production at Central Signs includes the practical steps needed before and after printing, not only the print run itself. We can assist with artwork setup, logo redraws, size checks, bleed setup, panel layout and colour adjustments where needed. If a file is supplied at the wrong size or with thin lines that will fail in print, we flag it before material is wasted.

Finishing is part of the service too. That can include trimming, contour cutting, lamination, joining of panels, eyeleting, edge prep and readying graphics for installation. For vehicle work, we also check that the print suits the curves and panel breaks on the vehicle before it goes to the fitment stage. If the job will be handled often, we can add protective laminate so it resists scuffing and cleaning better.

  • Artwork checking and print-ready setup
  • Colour matching and visual approval before production
  • Cutting, trimming and finishing to size
  • Lamination for protection against UV, abrasion and cleaning

How the process runs from file to finished stack

The process is straightforward. We start with your brief, location and intended use, then confirm material choice, quantity and size. After that we prepare the artwork for the chosen media and send a proof for approval where needed. Once approved, the job goes into print and finishing, then to collection or installation. For larger commercial rolls, we can stage production so the site does not sit waiting on one long batch.

This approach is useful for retailers, schools, offices, workshops and event teams who need clear timelines. If a shop opening is on Friday, or a municipal approval window is tight, we work to the practical deadline and tell you early if anything affects it. That saves a lot of back and forth later on.

  • Brief and site information
  • Artwork preparation and proofing
  • Print run and finishing
  • Collection, delivery or installation

Turnaround times that suit local schedules

Turnaround depends on quantity, material type and whether the job needs special finishing. Simple banner and vinyl jobs can often move quickly, while multi-panel display graphics, labels with die-cutting or a full frontage set will take longer. As a guide, smaller print jobs may be ready in 1 to 3 working days after approval, while larger production runs usually need 3 to 7 working days.

We also factor in the realities of power interruptions and load shedding, because a print job does not stop at the artwork stage. When a run is time-sensitive, we plan the sequence so the work is not left half-done. For clients in Mangaung, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Welkom and Kroonstad, that means a more reliable handover date and fewer surprises.

If you need an urgent reprint after damage, debranding or a last-minute campaign change, tell us the deadline upfront and we will advise what is possible. A small typo in an artwork file can cost a whole day, so it is always better to check before production starts.

Pricing based on material, size and finishing

Our pricing is based on the actual requirements of the job rather than a one-size-fits-all rate. The main factors are material type, print size, quantity, finishing, installation readiness and whether the artwork needs repair work or redraws. A simple single-colour decal run will not cost the same as full-colour laminated display panels with contour cutting and mounting.

For planning, we can quote on a once-off print or a grouped order for multiple locations. That helps when a business needs signage for several branches at once, such as Bloemfontein, Brandfort and Winburg. We keep the pricing clear so you can see where the cost sits, whether it is material, print labour or finishing.

  • Material selection affects cost and lifespan
  • Larger volumes usually improve the unit price
  • Lamination and cutting add protection and accuracy
  • Rush work may need a premium to cover prioritised production

Keeping prints looking right after installation

Printed graphics need some maintenance if you want them to stay legible and tidy. Outdoor banners and vinyl should be checked after the first few weeks, then at regular intervals depending on sun exposure and wind. On high-traffic areas like shop windows, doors and floor graphics, cleaning should be done with mild products and no harsh scrubbing, otherwise the print can lift or dull too fast.

We usually recommend a maintenance check every 6 to 12 months for most commercial print work, and sooner for areas with strong sun, frequent cleaning or heavy handling. For floor graphics or entrance areas, a shorter interval may be needed. If a panel starts to crack, lift at the edge or fade unevenly, it is cheaper to replace the worn section than to wait until the whole piece fails.

That is especially true for sites with regular foot traffic or outdoor exposure in Bloemfontein's dry conditions. A bit of upkeep goes a long way and keeps the signage readable for longer.

Questions we get asked

Can you print graphics that are ready for installation?

Yes. We can finish prints for direct application, mounting or sign fabrication, depending on the surface and the site conditions.

Do you help with artwork if the file is not print ready?

Yes. We can assist with artwork setup, size correction, logo redraws and basic prepress checks before production starts.

How long do printed graphics last outdoors?

It depends on the material, sun exposure and maintenance. With the right substrate and laminate, many outdoor graphics last well, but high-UV areas need more regular checks.
