Trailer Graphics

Trailer graphics turn a plain trailer into a working advert that moves with your business across Bloemfontein and the Free State. We brand enclosed trailers, utility trailers and mobile service units with vinyl, cut lettering and printed panels sized for real road use.

Trailer branding that works on the road

Trailer graphics are made for trailers that spend their days in traffic, on site and parked outside customers premises. At Central Signs we set up artwork for enclosed trailers, open utility trailers and mobile service units, then produce graphics that can take sunlight, dust, road spray and regular washing. A good trailer wrap does more than look neat, it helps people see your name, contact details and service area before you even step out of the bakkie.

Most trailer branding uses a mix of cast or polymer vinyl, printed film and protective laminate. On smooth aluminium or fibreglass panels, full panel graphics give the cleanest finish. On ribbed or uneven surfaces, we often recommend cut vinyl lettering and logo panels so the branding sits flat and lasts better. For trailers that are used every day, this matters because vibration, stone chips and loading can quickly show up poor material choices.

Sizes, panels and finish options

Trailer sizes vary a lot, so we measure each unit before production. Small service trailers may only need side panels and a rear door logo, while larger enclosed trailers can carry full length graphics on both sides, the rear and sometimes the nose cone. We work from the actual panel size and door layout, so handles, hinges, lights and vents are kept clear.

  • Cut vinyl lettering for company names, phone numbers and service lists
  • Printed graphics for logos, product photos and bold branding blocks
  • Reflective striping for better visibility at night or in low light areas
  • Laminate finishes in gloss or matt, depending on the look you want
  • Removable panels for trailers that change branding or are leased

Typical lettering heights range from 50 mm for secondary text up to 300 mm or more for main names and slogans. For highway visibility, we usually suggest larger side branding and a simple rear layout that is easy to read from a distance. If the trailer is used in dusty sites or around fast loading, a less cluttered layout tends to last and stay readable.

Best uses for mobile trailer branding

Trailer graphics suit trades and services that move between jobs all week. We see them used on water delivery units, generator trailers, catering trailers, event support trailers, garden service units and mobile repair setups. They also work well for businesses that want a professional look when parked at retail centres, schools, industrial yards or municipal sites.

In Bloemfontein and Mangaung, trailers are often seen at building sites, farms and commercial yards where dust and UV exposure are constant. In Welkom and Kroonstad, road travel and long parking hours are common, so durable vinyl and proper edge sealing are important. For mobile service units, the trailer is often the first thing a customer notices, so the graphics need to be clear from a few metres away and still make sense when the trailer is moving.

  • Enclosed trailers for tools, stock and equipment transport
  • Utility trailers for maintenance crews and field service work
  • Mobile service units for on site repairs or installations
  • Event and exhibition trailers for promotions and roadshows

Installation, curing and on site power needs

We handle trailer graphic installation at our Bloemfontein base or, where suitable, on site after a site survey. The trailer must be clean, dry and free of loose paint or old adhesive. Freshly painted trailers need proper curing time before vinyl is applied, otherwise the glue can bond poorly and lift at the edges. In summer heat and winter cold we allow for surface temperature as this changes how the film lays and sticks.

No power or gas is needed for the trailer itself. Our production process uses workshop equipment for printing, cutting and finishing, and on site installation may only need access to a clean working space and some shade. If we are doing a larger install on a fleet yard or rural site, we check for wind exposure, dust and safe parking. That helps avoid trapped grit under the vinyl and keeps the finish neat.

For trailers that are outside all day, we usually recommend curing after installation before the unit is washed or driven in heavy rain. This gives the adhesive time to settle. If the trailer has newly fitted seals, rivets or trim, we check those first because they can affect how the film is trimmed and where water may collect.

Care, cleaning and servicing over time

Good trailer graphics need basic care, especially on roads with dust, tar spray and strong sun. Wash the trailer with mild soap and water, then rinse well. Avoid harsh degreasers, rough scrubbing brushes and high pressure spray aimed directly at vinyl edges. Coastal humidity is not a main issue in Bloemfontein, but road grime and UV still wear at the surface over time, so regular cleaning makes a real difference.

We also offer maintenance visits, sign refurbishment and debranding when the trailer changes owner or the service details change. This is useful for businesses updating contact numbers, changing routes or reworking a trailer that has been in use for years. If a panel is damaged, we can often replace only that section instead of redoing the whole trailer.

  • Inspect edges, corners and door seams every few weeks
  • Check for lifted film after long trips or heavy rain
  • Remove tar and diesel marks promptly
  • Do not park under trees that drop sap or seeds on the vinyl

What to check before you order

Before we start production, it helps to confirm the trailer type, measurements and the message you want on each side. Send us the panel sizes if you have them, or let us do a site survey at Hamilton, Bloemfontein. We also need your logo in a usable format, your wording for services and the towns you want shown, such as Mangaung, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Welkom or Kroonstad.

Clear photos of the trailer from both sides, the rear and the front nose area help us plan around lights, brakes, hinges and access doors. If the trailer already has old branding, say whether you want full debranding, partial cover-up or a clean new layout. It also helps to know whether the trailer is open or enclosed, because open trailers usually need more durable placement and simpler text. A quick spelling check is worth doing too, especially on licence details, service names and any compliance wording.

  • Trailer make, type and approximate length in metres
  • Number of sides to brand, including rear and doors
  • Logo files, wording and preferred colours
  • Whether you want reflective elements or a standard finish
  • Any old graphics that must be removed first

Trailer graphics from Central Signs

Central Signs has been making signs and graphics in Bloemfontein since 2007, with work across Mangaung, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Welkom and Kroonstad. Our team handles artwork setup, print production, vinyl cutting, lamination, fabrication and installation, so trailer branding is managed from start to finish by one local supplier. Marius Jacobus van Rensburg leads the business, with support from Lerato Molefe, Johan Smit, Zanele Dlamini, Kagiso Moeketsi, Annelie Botha and Thabo Ncgobo.

We brand trailers for daily use, not just for show. That means clear sightlines, proper sizing and materials chosen for South African roads, summer heat and long hours in the sun. If you need trailer graphics that look tidy, read well and hold up under real working conditions, we can help through the enquiry form on our contact page.

Questions we get asked

Can trailer graphics be removed later?

Yes. We can remove or replace trailer graphics for rebranding, debranding or a change in contact details. Age, sun exposure and the type of paint underneath will affect how easily the film comes off.

Do you need the trailer on site for sizing?

It helps, yes. We can work from clear measurements and photos, but an on site survey gives the best result because we can check doors, hinges, vents and any damaged panels before production.

Will the graphics hold up to sun and road travel?

With the right vinyl, correct surface prep and proper application, trailer graphics are made for daily road use. Regular cleaning and checking the edges will help them last longer.
